NWA went in force to the 2nd Annual China International Food Safety and Quality Conference (CIFSQ), Beijing, PR China, hosted by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, PRC , September 24-25, 2008. Huashin Shi (Hans), Cliff Yee and I (Jeff Cawley) represented NWA and introduced the mainland to NWA eHACCP and Quality Information System solutions. This was the first NWA eHACCP rollout outside the US.
Since this was the week of the public disclosure of the melamine in milk adulteration scandel, there was a strong subscript to the meeting. I’ll discuss melamine adulteration in a later post.
I presented “Implementing an Electronic HACCP Solution”. The presentation reviewed how the active application of SPC and process enables successful HACCP food safety programs. Using NWA eHACCP input screens and reports as an example, he showed how a Quality Information System can be expanded to manage the operational aspects of a HACCP program and drastically reduce the risks of food safety failures.
